Top 20 Albums of 2009: # 10 La Roux – Self Titled
Despite popular belief, La Roux actually consists of vocalist Eleanor “Elly” Jackson along with synth player/co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid. Together, with Elly’s falsetto-like vocals and Ben’s 80′s inspired synths, they create the perfect pop duo, with a refreshing twist. Although the first single, “Quicksand”, was released in 2008, the album itself was released in June of this year. Their second single, “In for the Kill” hit number 2 on the UK charts, although notx making it on the US charts. After hitting number 2 on the US charts with “Bulletproof”, La Roux’s recognition is rising at an alarming rate. La Roux performed this summer at Montreal’s own Osheaga Music and Arts Festival. If you missed it, no worries, you can catch her February 5th at Metropolis. For details, click here to check out the details of this show and all the other shows coming up this February.
