Top 20 Albums of 2009: #12 Lights – The Listening

Toronto born Valerie Poxleitner, who performs under the stage name and now legal name Lights, released her first EP in 2008. Her hits “Drive My Soul” and “February Air” began to increase in popularity, and she began recording her first full length album, The Listening. The album was released in Canada in September and included some of the airy electro-pop tracks from the EP along with new upbeat synth tracks. The album also included an acoustic piano version of the song “Pretend”. When purchased on iTunes, the album includes the track “Up Up and Away” which is an iTunes exclusive bonus track.

Lights is about to start up a new tour with Owl City. They plan on touring most of the major cities in the US and Canada. Dates can be found here, more may be added.
