Top 20 Albums of 2009: #2 Metric – Fantasies
Toronto, Ontario’s Metric have been one of the most consistent Canadian indie rock bands of the past few years. Album after album these guys seem to never miss a step. One thing that has changed over the years is their fan base. When they first emerged onto the scene in 2001 their music was sort of different than what was being put out at the time and people gradually began to take notice. Nine years later, Metric’s fan base has grown exponentially and they are now popular on a global scale. Their true staying power is due to the fact that the band has continually put out albums of incredible quality as on their 2009 release, Fantasies. This album is a highlight reel from start to finish. “Gimme Sympathy” is undoubtedly one of the hottest tracks of the year, as is this song for which the band has a nice little video. Check it out:
