A Look Ahead (Part 3)
In part three of this series we will take a look into the future to a time when it won’t be quite as cold as it is now and perhaps the snow will even be starting to melt. Here are some of the upcoming highlights for March in Montreal.
Our Lady Peace – March 9 & 10 – L’Olympia
Let’s delve right into things with the triumphant return to the stage of Toronto, Ontario’s Our Lady Peace. We all have that favourite OLP song from our childhoods, whether it’s “Superman’s Dead” or “4AM” and now we have a chance to see them playing the songs we all know and love live for back to back nights in Montreal. On the first night, the 9th of November, the band will play their Clumsy album in it’s entirety. On the second night, the 10th of November, the band will play their Spiritual Machines album in it’s entirety. They have chosen to play at Montreal’s L’Olympia because of it’s sound quality and lighting, not taking into account how many people they can pack into the space. This means tickets are limited so if you are planning to attend I suggest you get on it. Tickets are $49.50 and can be purchased here for the 9th and here for the 10th.
Muse – March 10 – Bell Center
Our next highlight is British rock band Muse‘s show at the Bell Center. While the good news is that Muse is coming to town, the bad news is that they have chosen to play at the Bell Center, with it’s notoriously bad sound and expensive ticket prices. But what can you expect from a band with the amount of avid fans that Muse has. One thing is for sure, these guys will completely rock the shit out of the Bell Center and it’s somewhat comfy red seats. And they are a lot better than most of the bands that play there. Tickets for this one range from $44.50 to $59.50 and can be purchased here.
Woods + Real Estate – March 13 – Lambi
+
Next we have a bill featuring two of the buzziest bands of 2009, Woods and Real Estate. Woods is a band centered around the duo of Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere. Their music is eclectic to say the least and their latest album, Songs of Shame, has been a surprise on many top albums of 2009 lists. They will bring all of their woodsy campfire rock to Montreal’s Cub Lambi, on a night that they will split the bill with Real Estate. Real Estate are a New Jersey band that play some really mellow and chilled out beach pop. Believe us when we say that these guys paint a much prettier picture of the Jersey Shore than that TV show that everyone’s talking about/making fun of. This one is only $12.00 and you can purchase tickets here.
The Clientele + Field Music – March 20 – Il Motore
On Saturday, March 20th the Bell Center will play host to Bon Jovi. So if you feel like singing along to “Living on a Prayer” you better buy tickets because I’m sure they are selling fast. But if you’re in the mood for something a little more mellow and a lot more British you can check out London, England’s The Clientele who will be playing at Il Motore. Tickets are $13.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door and can be purchased online here. Opening up will be Field Music who also happen to be from the UK.
The Ruby Suns + Toro Y Moi – March 29 – Il Motore
And to close out the month of March we have Auckland, New Zealand’s The Ruby Suns also playing at Il Motore. This show just may the most fun of all. They also have a brand new record called “Fight Softly” coming out on the 2nd of March so expect to hear some new songs from that along with fan favourites “Oh Mojave”, “Kenya Dig It” and such. Opening up will be Toro Y Moi. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door and can be purchased here.
So there you have it! Our look to the future is complete. If you’d like to take a gander at the first 2 parts of this series highlighting the upcoming shows in January and February click below:
