After a long wait of seven years (who are we kidding, this is the standard delayed return), Peter Gabriel is returning to Montreal. Announced on Peter Gabriel’s official website, he plays the Bell Centre on April 28, 2010 in support of his forthcoming covers album Scratch My Back.
As well as the long awaited return of the ex-Genesis frontman, he has a new album coming out, which happens to be his first full-length studio release since 2003′s Up, he covers songs from artists such as Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor, Bon Iver, and David Bowie, to name a few. The album is due out February 15, and should add some momentum leading up to the show.
One of the songs covered by Gabriel on the album, Arcade Fire‘s “My Body is a Cage,” is streaming right now over at Stereogum.
Also available, are snippets of other songs on the forthcoming release, featured on Peter Gabriel’s Scratch My Back podcast series.
Just got back from the show, very dissappointed. I am always willing to listen to something new, but this was way off. Peter’s teriffic voice too weak much of the time or the orchestra was overpowering. If you are a fan based on his past work, give this tour a pass.
