Tonight in the City
Los Hermanos – Les Trois Minots
Los Hermanos are a seven-piece Latin/free jazz outfit native to Montreal. They are a group of guys who came together at Vanier College, during their studies in the Music program. The band is made up of Rivo Rabeson and Zachary Scholes on the piano, Dominic Caterina and Juan Fernandez on guitar, Corey Tardiff and Timmy J. on drums, and Gabriel Forget on bass. They will be playing both originals and covers ranging from Astor Piazolla to Horace Silver. With two drummers and two pianists, their line-up is one rarely seen and should definitely not be missed. So if you have nothing to do this Friday night, make sure you head on over to the Les Trois Minots in the heart of the Plateau to grab a beer and enjoy the wonders of Los Hermanos. For only $5.00, you have no excuse!
Bananafish (Album Launch) – Club Lambi
Ever since we got to witness Montreal jazz rock band Bananafish open for Laurent Bourque back in November we have been following these guys’ progress very closely. Well it turns out that these talented Montrealers are on the verge of releasing their debut LP, entitled Fertile Crescent tonight at Lambi. This will be quite a show, complete with guest musicians, visuals provided by the amazing VJ Bandit and an opening set by Claptrap. Tickets for this one are $10.00 or $15.00 if you buy the CD upon entrance.
Parallels + Hexes & Ohs – Petit Campus
Also tonight, 80s inspired electro-pop trio Parallels will be turning Petit Campus into a the most awesome dance party in the city. These rising Canadian stars have just released their debut album, entitled Visionaries, so expect them to play a good amount of songs from that. And if that wasn’t reason enough to check out this show, opening up is Montreal’s own Hexes & Ohs, who, let’s face it, are the most adorable electro-pop act in the city. Tickets for this one are $12.00 and can be purchased online here or at at the door for $15.00.
Red Mass – Casa Del Popolo
And last but certainly not least, we’ve got Red Mass playing at Casa Del Popolo. Believe it or not, the picture above depicts only a handful of musicians that have been a part of Red Mass at one point or another. This isn’t so much a band, but more of a musical collective of people from all different walks of life coming together with the goal of promoting free thinking and liberation through art. It should be a show like no other and you can attend this one for only $8.00. Opening will be Montreal’s Panopticon Eyelids. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.
