The Luyas To Headline The Reopening of The Rialto Theatre
The Rialto Theatre, located on Parc Avenue between St. Viateur and Bernard, was built in the 1920s by Montreal architect Joseph-Raoul Gariépy, who is also credited in designing the Archambault Building and Pharmacie Montreal to name a few. The interior of The Rialto was designed by Emmanuel Briffa, who in his career designed around 100 theatres, in Louis XVI style. There hasn’t been much going on in the building since it ceased showing movies in 1990, but this summer The Rialto will re-open it’s doors.
On June 9th, come on down to celebrate it’s reopening with a concert put on by Pop Montreal and Passovah featuring performances by The Luyas, The Hoof & The Heel and Avec Pas D’Casque. Tickets are only $5.00 with a suggested donation of $5.00 that will go to The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, a non-profit organization that has as goal to restore and preserve coastal Louisiana.
Doors open at 8:00 PM and the music will kick off at 9:00 PM.
