Tonight in the City

Tonight in the City

The Luyas + The Hoof & The Heel @ The Rialto Theatre

Let’s start off with our pick for tonight. Not only will tonight’s show featuring The Luyas, The Hoof & The Heel and Avec Pas’d Casque be a fine display of some of Montreal’s most interesting and exciting bands, but this show will also be held at the legendary Rialto Theatre on Parc Avenue between St. Viateur and Bernard. And best of all, as an effort to help restore coastal Louisianna after the recent oil spill, there will be a suggested donation of $5.00 per person which will go directly to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisianna. So great music at a great venue for a really great cause. What could be better?

Rah Rah + Young Galaxy @ Divan Orange

What we believe will be an equally as great show will be taking place at Divan Orange tonight as well. Fresh off the release of their brand new album, Breaking Hearts (Young Soul Records), Regina, Saskatchewan’s Rah Rah will be making a highly anticipated stop in Montreal tonight. We got to see them the last time they were in town and were relly impressed. We can’t wait to hear some of the new songs live. Opening up will be Young Galaxy (really!) along with Distant Shores and JEM.

AIDS Wolf @ Casa Del Popolo

Another option for tonight is Montreal’s own AIDS Wolf playing at Casa Del Popolo as a part of this year’s excellent Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival which will be going on around the city throughout the month of June. Feel like something that will get the blood flowing a little quicker? A little dose of AIDS Wolf should do the trick. Pocahuanted and Rape Faction will open.

The Junction + Dirty Wedding @ Jupiter Room

This one may fly under many people’s radars because of how many great shows are happening around the city tonight, but if you haven’t had a chance to see Toronto, Ontario’s The Junction live yet you may want to take advantage of this opportunity. The band is on tour in support of their latest album, Another Link In The Chain and will hit up Jupiter Room tonight with Ottawa’s Paramedics and Montreal’s Dirty Wedding opening.

Radian @ La Sala Rossa

And last but certainly not least we’ve got Austrian experimental electro rock trio Radian who will take over La Sala Rossa tonight. These guys definitely win the award for most unique band of the night (although there are a lot of close second’s). That being said if you are into loud, gloriously textured electro madness come on down to Sala tonight for Radian. This show is also being put on by Suoni Per Il Popolo, along with MUTEK and dim coast. Cost is $15.00 at the door.
