Polaris Prize Short List Announced

So without further ado, here is the short list for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize.

The Besnard Lakes – Are The Roaring Night

Broken Social Scene – Forgiveness Rock Record

Caribou – Swim

Karkwa – Les Chemins De Verre

Dan Mangan – Nice, Nice, Very Nice

Owen Pallett – Heartland

Radio Radio – Belmundo Regal

The Sadies – Darker Circles

Shad – TSOL

Tegan and Sara – Sainthood

There are definitely a lot of worthy contenders on this list. A couple of albums that we are surprised didn’t make the cut are Young Galaxy‘s Invisible Republic, Hannah Georgas‘ This Is Good and The New Pornographers‘ Together. But I guess not everyone can make the list. What is also interesting to note is that we are now one step closer to having a repeat winner for the first time in Polaris Prize history, with Owen Pallett and Caribou up for nomination again this year. Will either of them be able to repeat? Only time will tell. In 76 days (September 20th) we will have our answer, when they announce the official winner of the 2010 Polaris Prize.
