Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti @ La Sala Rossa
Our first highlight tonight is L.A. oddball Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti who will take over La Sala Rossa. This guy has been a writing and recording machine since he first began making music at the ripe old age of 10 years old. Along with a slew of LPs, EPs and complilation appearances it has been said that Pink has written and recording over 500 songs on cassette tapes since 1996. His latest work, an album called Before Today, may just be his best work yet and you can expect to hear a lot of songs from that album should you choose to attend tonight. Opening will be Magic Kids and Puro Instinct (formerly Pearl Harbor). Tickets are $16.00 and can be purchased here.
Darling Ghost @ Bistro l’Etranger
Darling Ghost is a Montreal based band centered around the solo creations of singer/songwriter Sheena Bernett. With the help of double bassist Chivas Delacroix and percussionist Enki de Treetop, this theatrical anti-punk trio really manage to bring their songs to life. This show just may be like no other show you’ve ever been to so that should be reason enough to check it out. It all goes down tonight at Bistro L’Estranger, located on the corner of St Catherine and University. Best of all, the show is pay what you can so there’s really no excuse to miss it.
This Invention Matters @ Les 3 Minots
This Invention Matter really impressed us when we saw them play with the Zolas and We Are The City last month at Divan Orange. They were the third of the three band’s to play and even though the hour was getting late these guys and one gal laid it all on the line, putting every ounce of energy into their performance. Especially impressive were some great covers of the Arcade Fire and Peter Bjorn & John. These guys are pretty deserving of some attention so be sure to head out to Les 3 Minots to check them out.
