Nightwood are a Montreal based trio composed of gal pals Amber Goodwyn and Erin Ross on guitars and drummer Jeremy MacCuish (of Parlovr/Cotton Mouth fame). For the past few years they have slowly been building a name for themselves playing at many of Montreal’s various hot spots and a few others around Canada. With one full length LP already under their belt, the band have been toiling away on some new material that breaks away from the themes we have grown used to on Carta Marina. They have recently finished recording a brand new piece called “Carve a path like a valley through the land” and we’ve got it for you not only to listen to, but as a free download.
The song was recorded at Montreal’s Digital Bird Studios with the help of Martin Horn (also of Cotton Mouth fame) this past July. As mentioned the song is a departure from the ocean themes evoked on the bands debut. On this one the Montreal trio is taking things back to the land on a song about putting roots down and re-visioning Canada’s flatlands and prairies.
We would like to offer you the track as an exclusive free download for this week only so you better pick it up before it’s too late! The song can be downloaded below or on our sidebar at any time throughout the week.
