Twin Shadow @ La Sala Rossa – Tuesday, Jan. 11th
One of the buzziest artists of 2010 will be making his return to Montreal, only two months after his last show here with Glasser. The man behind that awesomely awkward video for “Slow” and even more importantly, the man behind one of the best album’s released last year, Twin Shadow, will be headlining at La Sala Rossa this Tuesday. The Mark Inside @ Divan Orange – Friday, Jan. 14
Toronto, Ontario indie-rockers The Mark Inside will be making their way around eastern Canada this January and they have included a stop at our very own Divan Orange. The band is still fresh off the release of their latest False Flag EP, so expect to hear some songs from that. Also playing will be one of our new favourite Montreal bands, Honheehonhee. We’re still dancing around to the bands debut single that was released last month. We expect big things from these guys so be sure to check them out next Friday at Divan.
The Besnard Lakes @ Cabaret Mile End – Saturday, Jan. 15
I know it’s only January, but this one may just be a front runner for our 2011 best shows of the year list. Three of Montreal’s best bands will be on display at Cabaret Mile End next Saturday. Not only are The Besnard Lakes hitting the stage, but they will be joined by the experimental rock band SUUNS and a band that our love affair with is well known, the ever so dreamy VALLEYS. If you’re saving up for one show to see in January, this should be it. The good news is tickets are only $15.00 and can be purchased here. That’s $5.00 a band. It doesn’t get much better than that.
This is only the beginning of an excellent kick off to 2011 in Montreal. Also playing in Montreal this month are Little Dragon (Jan. 18 @ Il Motore), Oberhofer & Cloud Nothings (Jan. 18 @ Casa Del Popolo), The Concretes (Jan. 19 @ La Sala Rossa) and BRAIDS & Pop Winds (Jan. 20 @ La Sala Rossa). This is all leading up to what will be an incredible February in Montreal but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
