MUTEK 2011 Kicks Off In June
There will be fifteen different events that will spread out over the five days and run into the nights as well, including a free day of events which wraps up with nothing less than a nuit blanche and an all night party at Metropolis. As well as several free shows at BERRI-UQAM Metro, this year the folks at MUTEK have collaborated with Piknic Electronik and will be doing two shows with them over at Parc Jean Drapeau. Overall, there will be eighty performances from a group of 100 eclectic artists, some of which will be playing for the first time either in Canada, North America or worldwide.
Amon Tobin‘s performance on June 1st at Metropolis is highly anticipated, as it is expected to be his most experimental and large-scale tour yet. With only twenty shows worldwide, it is surely something to check out. We can’t give away too many details but the visuals are promised to blow your socks off. Here’s a pretty amazing video of Amon Tobin creating sounds for his latest album, ISAM:
SAT (Society for Arts and Technology) will be reopening just in time for MUTEK, and as longtime partners there are some wicked improvements and new additions to the venue for an even better festival experience. A floor has been added to be used as a restaurant, as well as a rooftop dome for video viewing on a 360-degree screen.
