YACHT – Il Motore – 01.05.11
As is the case for many shows in Montreal, the attendance for the first bit of the show was scarce to say the least and disappointing for opening act, Bobby Birdman. However, two fearless dancers showed off their moves right up front of the empty room for Birdman’s entire set and lit up the mood and energy. Light Asylum provided the rapidly growing crowd with an electric set featuring tropical drum beats and intense, grandiose vocals. But it was really the band of the night, YACHT, that took the show to the next level. It’s pretty clear that YACHT possess some kind of secret power capable of making everyone in the room feel at ease and welcome to dance their asses off, because the entire room was dancing – not shyly either – for the entire show. While things may have started off a bit rocky with the low attendance, YACHT managed to bring in a good crowd and showed everyone an unforgettable time.
