Sneak Peak of Pop Montreal 2011
Come celebrating memories of Patti Smith at the Gothic St Jean Baptiste Church to Interpol at lil’ Jupiter Room. The festival offers a diverse array of time-honoured acts, and the chance to catch some lesser-known gems in a rusty church basement at 2AM.
This year is no different. Pop Montreal’s 2011 line-up features the likes of Chromeo (oh how the scenesters will rejoice at an electrofunk party), to the weird but tasty tUnE-yArDs. You can pick up a pass and spend the weekend in a pop’d daze, and jump from the noise pop of Japandroids to the power pop of R. Stevie Moore. And when all is said and done, you will probably stop by Gary Lucas‘ Captain Beefheart Symposium, because I don’t think we’ve grieved enough (R.I.P Captain).
Also. Redd Kross is coming.
YEAH.
The festival will take over the city to your cultured heart’s delight offering content within a number of sub festivals outside of its main music line-up. Things like, (FILM POP (films!) PUCES POP (clothes and knick knacks!), KIDS POP (babies!), and ART POP (ART.)
Pop Montreal is turning 20 this year and is coming soon to a poster in the mile end near you.
