The Ontario based band has officially called it quits after 10 years. Lead singer George Pettit posted on the group’s website that two of its members, Dallas Green and Wade MacNeil, have decided to pursue new paths. With Green focusing on City and Color, and MacNeil taking up with a new band, neither had Alexisonfire on the horizon anymore.
What could have been an ugly and messy break up, Pettit acknowledges that the group’s parting was done with careful thought and that it probably needed to be done. As Pettit said,
Replacing one guitar player/singer/writer was something we thought was possible, but replacing two would run the serious risk of perverting the legacy of what we had achieved. So we all took a good hard swallow and decided to end it so it would never get old and ugly. Was the breakup amicable? Not really. Was it necessary? Probably.
A farewell tour is planned with a number of Canadian stops. For more information, and to read the full length post by Pettit, click here: http://www.theonlybandever.com/- Sarah Touyz
