Snow Patrol’s video for “Called Out In the Dark”, that will be featured in their sixth studio album, is a catchy pop/dance tune. The song could have easily been arranged they way most Snow Patrols are, which is sad rock melodies on top of minor chords., but, instead, “Called Out In the Dark” is an attempt at targeting a different market, without giving up their signature sound. This could have been a total failure for Snow Patrol, but they’ve managed to find middle ground. Amusingly, the video shows the lead singer Gary Lightbody struggling for the spotlight in a video shoot for his song, while the elegantly dressed Jack Davenport sings in front of tennis gear clad back-up dancers doing extremely cheesy choreographies. The idea of this video seems to prove that the band might be somewhat straying away for their old stuff, but they are not taking themselves too seriously either. In the video, Lightbody waltzes around the studio unwanted by the camera crew, dancers and director, while he is replaced by some elegantly dressed man. The highlight of this video is when Lightbody jumps in front of the green screen wearing a green shirt of the same shade and all the viewers see in the camera is his body with a transparent torso. Check out the video and let us know what you think! If you like what you hear and see, then get ready for their EP release on September 3rd.
Feist’s new song “How Come You Never Go There” will be featured on her next album called Metals that is set to release on October 3rd. The song has a great groove and does not stray from her usual sound. It starts off with some harmonized “ohs” and listeners are introduced to the hook of the song, which, to no surprise, is the title of the song. The arrangement is simple: Feist’s voice and electric guitar in the forefront and keyboard, drums and bass in the background. The highlight of this song is definitely the rhythm section hits that are reminiscent of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”. Also, the drum fill at 2:55 will send shivers down your spine. Metals is surely an album that will be worth picking up when released.
