This Week’s Free Music Downloads!

The Darcys

On October 25, 2011, Toronto’s The Darcys released the first of three upcoming albums, through the Arts & Crafts record label, to the internet-world… for FREE! Not only that, but gee does it ever sound lovely. If i were you, I’d bring myself over to their site right away and get my hands on that download. The indie-rock quartet could not have put it in better words: “We would rather have you as a fan tomorrow than have a little of your money today.”

Family of The Year

Feeling dreary lately? Cold, wet fall weather’s got you down? Well, we’ve got just the non-seasonally fitting, upbeat song for you, thanks to Family of The Year! These sunny, California-based kids are handing out free downloads of their single, ”St-Croix” which you can openly jump on, right over here. But it doesn’t stop there! You can also grab Hooray For Earth‘s (a terrific band, might I add) mix of it, over here! Go on, feel summery again!

The Ralfe Band

Never heard of The Ralfe Band? Well, I hadn’t either, but what a great discovery! Multi-instrumentalist Oliver Ralfe leads the band and they’re offering up a 2nd free song from their North-American debut, as well as the original soundtrack to Bunny and The Bull. If you haven’t checked the hilarious trailer for the movie out yet, I strongly suggest you do, on The Ralfe Band’s awesome website (<- click it, I dare you!) After you’re done having your fun with that, you can happily download the folky, Spanish-influenced ”Fiesta Song”, right here.

Madi Diaz

Madi Diaz is a folk singer straight from Nashville, Tennessee. Although her debut full-length Plastic Moon is set to be released on January 24, 2011, her 3-song EP, Far From Things We Know is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon, and Webstore. How can you be sure you’ll enjoy her light-hearted peppy music, you ask? Well, you can judge for yourselves by listening to and downloading her EP single, ”Let’s Go”, right here, for free!

Last, but not least! Sarve’s personal recommendation of the week:

Caveman

So Caveman is one of my most recent music discoveries, and I’ve just been obsessed with them ever since I heard their song ”Old Friend” about a month ago on Sirius XMU. I would place them in the same category as Local Natives, Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, what have you. Basically, if you’re just as much of a sucker for hauntingly spacey sounds and echoing harmonies, this Brooklyn band will not fail to please you. Download their song ”Old Friend”, right here, and go support them with your presence if they play a show in your town!
