T.H. White

New York based DJ/producer T.H. White has done it all! From remixing tracks for the likes of The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Faunts, and Fol Chen, to producing original works for Tommy Hilfiger and Elle Magazine, and DJing in New York City clubs, White’s been around the block; and with his newly released album, How Bad Do You Want It, he’s put out his talents for everyone to hear. It’s your turn to show him how bad you want him on the music scene. Listen to, and download “Down In The Garden” on his Soundcloud page, here.

The Color Bars

In the light of their upcoming long play, curiously entitled Prosopopoeia (set to drop November 15), the nothing-less-than interesting Brooklyn kids from  The Color Bars are offering up their song “Mustached Messiah” as a free download. The prominent bass line and synthy vibes are somewhat reminiscent to the psychedelia of MGMT, but in a groovier manner? Take a listen, here, and figure it out for yourselves. If you want to download it, all you have to do is right-click on the word “here“, and “save as”!

Little Silver

Having trouble sleeping? The sweet talents of Erika Simonian, and Stevie Curtis come together to form Little Silver, all for the benefit of you forgetting about your worries for a bit. Their recently released The Stolen Souvenirs album was co-produced by Phil Palazzolo, who’s also worked on albums by The New Pornographers, and Ted Leo. Their soothingly spacey, accoustic sounds are perfect to listen to right before bed. Give it a try and listen to their title-track, “Stolen Souvenir”, right here! (To download, right-click link and “save as”)

MiniBoone

I think we’ve got a bit of a New York theme going on this week, because funny enough, the fun-loving guys from MiniBoone also hail from the town of New York, New York. Their chanting has this fantastic Queen-esque feel to it, woven in with heavier notes of Rock… and a touch of glockenspiel. Definitely sounds like they’re having a good time! They’ll be releasing their well-anticipated On Miniboone Mountain EP in less than a week; but in the meantime, you can stream and download the engaging “Man/Woman” track, here.

The Bandana Splits

When I say I’m a sucker for harmonies, I really mean it; and it all roots from my love for the 40s era. Music was so simple back then: for the most part, a cappella, and a lot of smiles. The girls from cleverly named The Bandana Splits have the 40s sound pretty much down pat with this song of theirs called “Back To School”. Happy-go-lucky feelings will immediately rush through you. Try it (here), and you’ll see, this is a light-hearted track you can’t possibly dislike! (To download, right-click link and “save as”)

Last, but not least! Sarve’s personal suggestion of the week:

Phantogram

I go through this kind of thing regularly, due to goldfish-sized memory; but have you ever heard a song somewhere and completely forgotten about it for a bit… and then have it come haunting you IN YOUR SLEEP? Alright, well maybe not so dramatically, but I did wake up with the horn hook in Phantogram‘s latest single “Don’t Move” (from their freshly released mini-album Nightlife) playing repetitively in my head one day, and boy, was it ever frustrating to go through all the layers of the internet… to hear it, by chance, play on Sirius XMU! With that being said, that satellite radio station is my savior; and this track is the best i’ve heard from Phantogram’s dancy, trippy nature yet! Listen and download it on Barsuk Records’ Soundcloud page.
