About

Meet You At The Show was started by Greg Lozoff and Eran Dahan; two born and raised Montreal music lovers who felt that Montreal needed a place to not only find out about concerts in the Montreal area but to meet like-minded concert goers and create ongoing discussions about music that you love.

At first you will notice that the site will be primarily devoted to listing all the shows big and small in the Montreal area. As the weeks go by you will notice small changes here and there as we improve and expand the scope of the site. Hang in for the ride because things are about to get really exciting around here.

The Team

Amelia Robitaille

Site Coordinator – Writer – Photographer
Although on the outside it seems as though Amelia Robitaille is a simple Vanier College student, there is much more to know. Behind her secret identity, Amelia is in fact a young padawan; a jedi-in-training. As a child, she was blessed with extraordinary powers so strong she blew everyone’s brains and had to move to Earth, where she would not be prosecuted for her misconduct. Now, she lives amongst humans, disguising herself as a young, fun-loving and carefree female. Her favourite things on earth include grass and trees, TV shows about nothing (otherwise known as Seinfeld), being barefoot, longboarding and oranges. She enjoys electronic-psychedelic-metal-classical-hiphop-postrock-experimental-postpunk-folk music.

Sarvenaz Amir-E.

Site Coordinator – Writer
Having been wrongfully confined to her room for some time-out by her mother, four year old Sarve picked up her Jack & The Beanstock book out of sheer boredom and decided to learn how to read. In her tender childhood, due to trust issues, Sarve learned to bike on two wheels all by herself. She would spend ridiculous amounts of hours playing Pokemon Blue (because yellow was so overrated). She would also bring home a lot of stray cats (which her parents would throw back out within the first 3.5 minutes). None of this has anything to do with why she is writing for us but we believe it does somewhat explain why she tends to be so strange.

Laura-Chanel Lespérance

supDesigner
Laura-Chanel Lespérance is a student at Vanier College in the Communications program. Her hobbies can be summed up with one word…drawing. While Laura doesn’t really consider herself a “music person” she does love going to shows and discovering new artists. Random facts: Laura is left-handed, and her favourite donut is either double chocolate, or chocolate glaze with custard inside (although the one’s with sprinkles are good too. But not as tasty as they look). Her favourite thing about Montreal is The Plateau.

I’m very appreciative of the plateau area, especially recently that I’ve been going to all these shows. There’s just so many amazing little places that I would never know of. So yeah, the little places.

Sarah Touyz

Sarah Events Coordinator- Writer
Sarah Touyz wins the award for the bubbliest member of our team. She has recently graduated from McGill university with a BSC. Some of her hobbies include painting, reading, listening to music, playing guitar and piano, drawing, writing, traveling and exploring. Sarah is a cat person and her favourite fruit is the nectarine. Her biggest pet peeve is having food in her teeth and she makes it a point of always smelling good. Her favourite thing about Montreal is the European influence that can be found everywhere you look.

Pamela Fillion

Writer
Originally from a small French-Canadian town where she grew up with apple trees in her yard, red foxes following her around, and a beautiful river nearby, Pamela moved to bustling Montreal several years ago to pursue her education. She attended John Abbott College, then McGill University and now has to her name a Bachelors of Arts which hangs above her desk and is written in Latin (which makes it feel special). Pamela is an aspiring writer, singer-songwriter, and photographer. She talks quite a bit, finds her own jokes funny, is an avid reader and enjoys copious amounts of tea.

Graham Corking

Writer
Graham is always the awkward one.  Only member of the team from the UK, so obviously has a strong interest in tea, the royal family, crumpets and Hugh Grant films.  He’s currently a journalist student and continues to write music with two bands. He spends his time reading, watching people from coffee shop windows and collecting records. Claiming to have the biggest Rolf Harris record collection in England, we can’t tell if he’s telling the truth or someone has spiked his tea.  He cites his favourite bands are Tiger Trap, Ra Ra Riot and Camera Obscura. He’s going to bring us the best new music from over the pond and maybe some Rolf Harris..?

Rachel Thorne

Writer
Rachel Thorne was born forty years too late and often has dreams of Woodstock and hanging out with Fleetwood Mac that prefers to describe as “flashbacks from a previous life”. She rearranges her apartment when she sleepwalks and falls in love at least once a day, most often with bearded men wearing earrings she passes in the street. The first CDs she bought were Aqua’s “Aquarius” and Savage Garden and Hanson’s self-titled debut albums, all in one big order from Columbia House in the third grade. This frightened her dear father and it was then that he committed himself to ensuring her daily exposure to the likes of Rush, Supertramp, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Bruce Springsteen. Rachel likes museums, motorcycle boots, hot dogs & fro-yo, “Transformers”, half-tons, dreamcatchers, concerts, impromptu dance parties and singing in the street, jumping off of waterfalls, denim, driving fast, reading about history when it rains, the fine art of falconry and anything that’s lacy. She hates blueberries and not having fun.

Eli Larin

Photographer
Eli Larin is a 20-something photographer who loves coffee, cats, tattoos and above all else Art (yes with a capital). In photography, she’s found the perfect way to express her love for this culturally dynamic city. In music, she sees the potential to deeply connect with people in a universal language. Eli is a bit of a romantic. When she manages to unglue herself from the visor of her camera, she likes to experience life through pints of cider, sci-fi tv shows, groovy music and animated movies.

Sandy Jolin

Photographer
Sandy is a student at Cegep du Vieux-Montréal studying Textile Design. She is passionate about art & design and currently does screen-printing for MASSIVart.com. She began her career as a photographer four years ago and what she loves most about concert photography is the ability to capture a moment in a show and make time stand still. Her love for music is ever present and her taste changes daily. Some of her favourite bands and artists are Charlotte Gainsbourg, Cocoon, Florence and the Machine, Metric, The Do, Misteur Valaire, but ask her tomorrow and you may get a completely different list. She especially loves discovering new talent. Her favourite thing about Montreal is the variety of summer outdoor festivals where she can practice her photography skills.

Sean Mundy

Photographer
Sean Mundy is an 18 year old student at Dawson College in the Arts & Culture program. When he isn’t sleeping in until 2 in the afternoon, Sean is taking photos, writing/playing music, or daydreaming about  personal projects he aspires to work, ranging from short films, to a photo-porfolio of his own. His musical tastes are too diverse to narrow it down to a single genre, but he can often be caught listening to anything from Daniel Hunter, Adam Young, Sonny Moore, Dallas Green, Foals, Closure in Moscow, Thrice, and Ratatat.  His first and most memorable show to date was City and Colour in the summer of 2008. To Sean, Montreal is great because it’s one of the biggest cities in the world, yet it keeps it’s heritage close to heart.
