Adam & The Amethysts recently held an album release party at La Sala Rossa in support of their latest; Flickering Flashlight. Having never seen openers Elfin Saddle, I was immediately blown off my feet by their breathtaking music. Along with Adam & The Amethysts’ impeccable set, it made for one of the best shows I have seen in a while.  Read more…

Caroline Keating & The Hoof and The Heel – Casa Del Popolo – 08.11.11

Caroline Keating & The Hoof and The Heel – Casa Del Popolo – 08.11.11

Last night at Casa Del Popolo, Passovah presented two solid Montreal-based acts: Caroline Keating and The Hoof & The Heel. Although I’d been feeling somewhat under the weather, I would not have missed that show for the world. It became very apparent that I was not the only one who had eagerly awaited the chance to see these performances. The Casa Del Popolo venue went from full, to packed very quickly. Smiling faces listened, sang, and danced along together with Caroline Keating and The Hoof & The Heel ’til the very end of the night.

The Sea and Cake – La Sala Rossa – 07.11.2011

I knew something was different about this show as soon as I entered the familiar Sala Rossa venue – it wasn’t the usual young crowd that I was used to. However, I immediately realized that these guys have been playing together for nearly a decade! The Sea and Cake were back in Montreal and ready to rock like it was the ’90s.

Sweet Mother Logic – La Sala Rossa – 04.11.11

Sweet Mother Logic – La Sala Rossa – 04.11.11

La Sala Rossa hosted a peaceful, yet truly deep show last night. The entire audience packed into the venue and were present nice and early, in order to catch all of Sweet Mother Logic‘s album launch. Armen at the Bazaar‘s synth-based, blissful tunes started off the night in a perfectly pleasant manner, only to be topped off by more great music.  Read more…

Library Voices + Graham Wright – Casa Del Popolo – 26.10.11

The amount of energy that was packed into the tiny Casa Del Popolo venue on the night of October 26, 2011 is hardly expressible in writing. The dynamic Library Voices, and opener Graham Wright (sharing the stage with a talented group of friends) played an explosive show, filled with a jumping crowd and all sorts of shenanigans provided by both bands. It’s unfortunate for those who missed out, but I’ve done my best do include all the highlights of the night in this review, so just keep reading! Read more…

The Naked and Famous + Winter Gloves – La Sala Rossa – 08.10.11

The Naked and Famous + Winter Gloves – La Sala Rossa – 08.10.11

Last night’s show at Sala Rossa was truly one of the hottest shows in Montreal this summer. And by hot, not only do I mean the show was sold out days before doors opened, I also mean the sweat-pouring-down-your-face kinda hot. Hosted by Indie Montreal, Sala Rossa was packed solid with barely any room to breathe. Not even the typical sticky Montreal summer eve could stop these avid fans from showing up to the highly anticipated Naked and Famous show. Read more…
