The stars are coming out this week in Montreal. Starting off tonight with Adele‘s highly anticipated and sold out performance at L’Olympia and continuing throughout the week with performances by A-trak, Lykke Li, Grimes and Arctic Monkeys, we are in store for some great shows this week. But if you’d like to check out some of Montreal’s best local acts, we suggest you check out First You Get The Sugar on Tuesday at Divan Orange, UN, Reversing Falls and Nightwood on Thursday at Casa Del Popolo and Miracle Fortress on Friday at the Torn Curtain. We’ve an eclectic week of shows ahead of us this week in Montreal. Rock, pop, soul, electronica, folk…pretty much whatever you’re in the mood for can be found at one of the many venues around the city. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings will be making a highly anticipated return to Montreal on Tuesday night at Metropolis in order to spread the message that R&B isn’t dead. Spencer Krug’s solo project, Moonface, will take full flight on Thursday night at Il Motore and Tune-Yards play the very next night at La Sala Rossa. Here’s all the highlights for the week…

For the past week the name Godspeed You! Black Emperor has been on the lips of many Montrealers, brimming with excitement over the band’s five nights of shows in Montreal. Well tonight’s performance at L’Olympia will be the final of the five shows and if you haven’t yet seen the band live tonight will be your last chance. In other news, there are a lot of interesting shows going on this week including performances by The Death Set, WIN WIN, Lake, Baby Dee, and Olenka & The Autumn Lovers. Black Emperor will make their long awaited return to the stage, we assure you there will be many other things to remember this week. How about the fact that this will be one of the best weeks for live music in Montreal that we have seen in quite awhile. Grimes Releases New 12″ + Video, Tours With Lykke Li

Montreal experimental electro-pop songstress Grimes has just put the finishing touches on her latest musical project; a split 12″ with fellow Montrealer D’Eon. Along with the release comes a brand new music video for the song “Vanessa” from the split. But perhaps the most exciting news of all is that it has just been announced that Grimes will be accompanying Lykke Li on her forthcoming North American tour, including a stop right here in Montreal at Metropolis on May 21st. New Osheaga Additions

As if the initial Osheaga lineup announcement wasn’t exciting enough, the folks over at Osheaga have just unveiled a few more artists that will be playing this year’s festival. Leading the way are Cypress Hill who will be making a very rare stage appearance, along with the amazing Janelle Monae who will be playing in Quebec for the first time ever and Broken Social Scene who, let’s face it, just make every festival better. We hope you’ve had a quiet and restful weekend because this week, Montreal will be completely jam packed with great shows happening night after night. It’s also apparently album release week in Montreal as there are a number of Montreal bands playing album release shows this week. Malajube will play back to back sold out shows on Tuesday and Wednesday at La Tulipe as they release their latest LP, La Caverne. Pat Jordache will also be releasing his debut album this Thursday at Discoteque Tropicale as well as Grimes and D’Eon who will be releasing a brand new split this Friday at La Sala Rossa.
