Interview: Freelance Whales
New York’s Freelance Whales must be really getting to know Montreal by now. After playing at Il Motore earlier this month with Bear in Heaven and Cymbals Eat Guitars, the band will play here again in as many months, this time at the Cabaret with Shout Out Louds on Friday, May 7th. We had a chance to catch up with the band’s drummer Jacob Hyman in the midst of the band’s seemingly never ending touring schedule.
Interview: Girl in a Coma
Girl in a Coma is a trio of female musicians from San Antonio, Texas. The band was discovered in 2006 by Joan Jett, who then signed them to her record label, Blackheart Records. In their short historyas a band, they have already released two full length LPs and two EPs as well. Most recently, the band has been working on a triple album of cover songs from some of their favourite artists, entitled Adventures in Coverland. We had a chance to catch up with the band’s lead singer, Nina Diaz in the midst of their current North American tour with The Wedding Present. Getting To Know The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt!
What comes to mind when you hear “The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt!“? Perhaps a group of pigeons dressed up as terrorists who use dancing instead of violence? From this day forth, when you hear The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! you will think only of the frantic and psychotic musical concoctions created by a man named Neil Fridd. Fitting his music into a genre would be impossible and even trying to describe his music proves difficult. Think Matt & Kim, except subtract Kim and add a group of wild singers and dancers along with some of the oddest costumes and stage antics you’ll ever see. As a preview to the band’s upcoming show in Montreal, next Saturday, April 24th at Friendship Cove we had a chance to catch up with Mr. Fridd, who let us into the world of the Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt!
Interview: Seabear
It’s pretty well known that Iceland has a very interesting and rich music scene. And we’re not just talking about Sigur Rós and Bjork. More and more these days we are hearing from new and great Icelandic bands. One of these great bands is Seabear. Interview: The Temper Trap
Tonight is a very special night in Montreal, and no it has nothing to do with hockey. Tonight will mark Australian powerhouse The Temper Trap’s first ever show in Montreal as they will be playing at The Cabaret on the second Canadian stop in their current tour which will take them all around the world in the span of five months. As a preview for the show we had a chance to catch up with the band’s bassist Jonathon Aherne, who let us in on what the band has been up to lately, along with some insight on the Australian music scene as well as what life has been like since the release of their debut album, Conditions.
