Lineup For Osheaga 2011
One of the most exciting times of the year for many Montrealers is the announcement of the lineup for the annual Osheaga Festival that happens every summer at Parc Jean Drappeau in Montreal. Well the time has come once again to find out who will be playing this year’s fest. The folks over at Osheaga let it slip last week that Eels would be playing as well as Death From Above 1979. Karkwa Win 2010 Polaris Music Prize
Montreal has done it again. For the second time in the prestigious Polaris Music Prize‘s history a band from Montreal has taken home the award and the prize of $20,000. Montreal franco indie rock band Karkwa has won the 2010 Polaris Music Prize for their latest album, Les Chemins de Verre. Read more…
Polaris Music Prize Long List
The Polaris Music Prize is undoubtedly the most coveted award in the Canadian independent music market. If you haven’t heard, The Polaris Prize is awarded each year to the best Canadian album of that year, based solely on artistic merit and disregarding album sales. Past winners have been Owen Pallett, Patrick Watson, Caribou and Fucked Up. The prize? $20,000 in cash! Well the long list for this year’s Prize has just been announced. Osheaga lineup announcement day is always on of the most exciting for us Montreal music lovers. In the past we’ve had our share of ups and downs when it came to announcement day, but it seems that the last few years have been pretty disappointing for many. Well it’s time to get excited about our little island’s major summer festival again because the lineup this year is just about as good as it gets.
