Starting off the week tonight at Il Motore is Boston based folk singer-songwriter Marissa Nadler and on Wednesday Real Estate and Twin Shadow will take the stage at the same venue. With the Jazz Fest wrapping up tonight, it appears things are going to slow down this week in Montreal. After the B-52s and Rich Aucoin close out the festival with free shows tonight at the Scene TD and the Scene Bell in downtown Montreal, there are a select few shows that we feel are worth checking out this week. Sam Mickens at Sala Rossa on Wednesday is a show that you should definitely consider, along with the Callers show on Friday at Casa Del Popolo and Pink Moth on Sunday at Casa. Highlights this week include MAN MAN, Austra, Johnny Flynn and Friendly Fires. On the local front we’ve got folk songstress Charlotte Cornfield playing tonight at Casa Del Popolo, The Lindbegh Line, Bad Weather and She’s Got A Habit playing on Tuesday night at Divan Orange, Little Scream playing on Wednesday night at Il Motore and Snailhouse will close out the week on Sunday at La Sala Rossa. This Week In Montreal

The big guns are coming out to play this week in Montreal. Besides a slew of great smaller shows happening around the city, this week there are a couple of blockbuster shows that many people have been counting down the days to. Firstly, The Pixies will play back to back nights at Metropolis on Wednesday and Thursday with Imaginary Cities. Then on Friday at Le National we’ve got one of the best lineups we’ve seen in a long time with Black Lips, Vivian Girls and Davila 666 taking the stage. Saturday we’ve got Timber Timbre playing at Corona Theatre and TV on the Radio will cap things off at Metropolis on Sunday. We hope you’ve saved up!

Before Lauryn Hill closes out the week at Metropolis on Sunday, there are lots of smaller shows that are definitely worthy of some attention. We highly recommend you check out Oberhofer, Cloud Nothings and Intensive Care at Casa Del Popolo on Tuesday, The Concretes at La Sala Rossa on Wednesday and BRAIDS at Sala on Thursday. We brought in some of Montreal’s best musicians to play some songs, we gave away lots of presents and all the money raised was donated to one of our favourite local charity organizations; Eleven Eleven Animal Rescue.
