This Week in Montreal
It’s that time of the year again. Yes, festival season has arrived in Montreal. If you’re into the electronic scene, this week’s MUTEK festival offers an array of exciting shows for you night owls. Our MUTEK show picks are Matias Aguayo Presents Cómeme (if you haven’t heard his hit song Rollerskate, you’re missing out), and Mouse on Mars. The Suoni Per Il Popolo festival runs through June 6 – 26, offering an eclectic mix of shows, including this week’s Constellation Records’ 13th Anniversary featuring Clues. What a week of shows we have ahead of us. Kicking off tonight with Montreal’s own singer/songwriter David Martel, who will be playing some brand new songs from a his forthcoming EP, the week just get’s better and better culminating on Sunday night in the first night of Joanna Newsom‘s two sold out shows at the Ukrainian Federation. Venue of the Month: Metropolis
While Metropolis may not offer the quaint simplicity that can be found at last month’s venue of the month, Il Motore, the list of bands lined up to play this St Catherine mainstay this December is impossible to ignore.
