This Week in Montreal

This Week in Montreal

Where have the summer months gone? It seems like only yesterday that we were sporting our parkas and shoveling snow. Don’t despair, summer isn’t going anywhere for now! So before we have to trade in our flips flops and swim trunks, why not enjoy  what’s left of August and the many shows happening this week around Montreal? Interpol are in town tonight, bringing us a new band line-up and brand new tunes from their forthcoming self-titled LP. In terms of home-grown talent, we’ve got shows by Cotton Mouth and DVAS this week. We highly suggest checking out Thursday’s Javelin show at Sala Rossa. We’ve become especially enamored of openers Beach Fossils, whose lo-fi breezy sounds are the perfect soundtrack to sipping ice tea and busting out that beach ball. Keep on reading for more highlights of shows you can check out this week, including Polvo, Ty Segall and Crystal Castles.

Exclusive: Nightwood Offer Up New Track

Exclusive: Nightwood Offer Up New Track

Nightwood are a Montreal based trio composed of gal pals Amber Goodwyn and Erin Ross on guitars and drummer Jeremy MacCuish (of Parlovr/Cotton Mouth fame). For the past few years they have slowly been building a name for themselves playing at many of Montreal’s various hot spots and a few others around Canada. With one full length LP already under their belt, the band have been toiling away on some new material that breaks away from the themes we have grown used to on Carta Marina. They have recently finished recording a brand new piece called “Carve a path like a valley through the land” and we’ve got it for you not only to listen to, but as a free download. Read more…
