While the week may start off slow with nothing going on tonight and only a few worth while shows up until Thursday, we assure you that by the weekend your head will be spinning due to the amount of good show options. This week is an especially good week for those of you that like electronic music in all of it’s various forms. Salem, Simian Mobile Disco, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Jesse Rose and Benga are all playing this week, but the highlight of the week has to be Norwegian duo, Röyksopp‘s upcoming sold out show at Club Soda on Saturday. When all is said and done today we will have a nice fresh blanket of 20 centimeters of snow covering our city. This should make things interesting for those of us that like to go to concerts on a regular basis. Speaking of concerts, this week will be another excellent week of shows, so lace up your Sorels and start trudging. Marnie Stern, Alcoholic Faith Mission, We Are The City, The Zoobombs, Plants & Animals, Designer Drugs, The Two Koreas and Silk Screaming are all playing this week and you don’t want to miss them.

An early spring has been predicted by all the major players in the groundhog industry and so there is reason to be happy, even though we’re still digging our way out of the dumping of snow we received on Saturday night. The other reason to be happy is that the month of February is lining up to be an incredible month for live music in Montreal. This week, along with locals Robertson and The Wind Up Radio Sessions, we will hear from renowned saxophonist Colin Stetson at La Sala Rossa on Thursday and Brooklyn based producer Machinedrum of Friday at Lambi. This week will start off with a bang because tonight, indie rock giants, The Decemberists, will make their long awaited return to Montreal in support of their excellent new album, The King Is Dead. The rest of the week will provide us with some great local shows like, The Lindbergh Line, Couples and Reversing Falls on Tuesday at Casa Del Popolo as well as Shortpants Romance on Saturday at Divan Orange. But perhaps the hottest show of the week will be another Saturday night show, when Best Coast, Wavves and Montreal’s No Joy take the stage at the Cabaret Mile End.
