Sally Seltmann – Le Cagibi – Thursday, June 17th 2010

I’ve been told that I have rather morose taste in music. Yeah I’ll be the first to admit I tend to gravitate towards the darker end of the musical spectrum. Growing up on Wilco, The Smiths, and The Velvet Underground, I mostly forewent the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC phase (but in all honestly I had a weird fascination with 98°, gross I know). However I have several dark secrets in my cultural closet. Along with my love for reality dating shows and the Olsen Twins… I love saccharine girl pop. I’m not talking about Miley Cyrus or Christina Aguilera here, but – in my defense – the wholesome and heartwarming singer/songwriter stuff. The warm and fuzzy stuff that makes you want to be Zooey Deschanel twirling hoola hoops or Feist setting off fireworks. So when I came across Sally Seltmann I hit the jackpot.
