Osheaga 2011: Day 2
Saturday at Osheaga 2011 was even better than Friday with a full day of live music from noon till night. Canadian bands playing all day long and even headlining on the main stages. Could it get any better? Let’s not forget that Saturday at Osheaga was Death From Above 1979′s first show in Montreal since their breakup back in 2006. Guide To Osheaga 2011: Day 2
Day 2 of Osheaga 2011 is a big day for many reasons. Sure there are a ton of great bands and artists playing simultaneously all day long, but for many day 2 will always be remembered as the day that Death From Above 1979 return to the stage in Montreal for the first time since their breakup back in 2006. Karkwa Win 2010 Polaris Music Prize
Montreal has done it again. For the second time in the prestigious Polaris Music Prize‘s history a band from Montreal has taken home the award and the prize of $20,000. The Polaris Music Prize is undoubtedly the most coveted award in the Canadian independent music market. If you haven’t heard, The Polaris Prize is awarded each year to the best Canadian album of that year, based solely on artistic merit and disregarding album sales. Past winners have been Owen Pallett, Patrick Watson, Caribou and Fucked Up. The prize? $20,000 in cash! Well the long list for this year’s Prize has just been announced.
