So how did December arrive so quickly? One morning its fall and the next day Montreal is bedecked with Christmas paraphernalia. The holidays can be a busy time, full of cozy dinners, sleigh rides, skating… ok this is more of our Christmas fantasy. But before all your free time actually gets usurped by mad dash shopping and a suffocating amount of family of time, its probably a good idea to pack in some shows while you still can! We’ve been counting down the days to Osheaga, and it’s finally here! However you don’t need to wait until Saturday to get into the festival spirit for we’ve got Osheaga in the City shows from Yoav, Of Montreal, and Chromeo with Neon Indian to psych us up for the big weekend. Now all we’ve got to do is pick out a comfy pair of shoes and cross our fingers for blue skies. Don’t let the excitement get too much to your head, lest you forget we’ve got some other great shows happening this week in Montreal. Hercules and Love Affair are in town, bringing their infectious disco jams to Le Belmont this Tuesday. Forgive the good ol’ saying that less is more. For this week in Montreal is packed with shows that are just too exciting to pass up. You just might have some tough decisions to make. Will it be the kitschy and quirky Fiery Furnaces or the raucous Ted Leo & the Pharmacists on Tuesday June 22nd? Will you be seeing Montreal’s Plants and Animals or Think About Life on Friday June 25rd? Having trouble deciding, like me? Toss a coin! The Antlers – Il Motore – February 17th, 2010
Last night, Il Motore gave rise to Golden Isles, along with the critically acclaimed phenomenon that is The Antlers. The normally rather sparse Il Motore was already packed to the gills by 9 pm, and continued to play host to quite a few stragglers as the night wore on. The lights were dim, the anticipation was palpable, things were relatively quiet…and then Golden Isles entered on stage.
Before The Show: The Antlers – Il Motore – Wednesday, February 17th
I’ll start this off by getting something out of the way. I am a fan of The Antlers and their music, however, this isn’t a review of any sort, so that doesn’t factor into any of this. The Antlers roll in to town tomorrow in support of their critically acclaimed 2009 album Hospice.
Venue of the Month: Il Motore
It was a bit tough to choose our venue of the month for February, because of how many great shows are taking place throughout the city this month. But after much deliberation, we have chosen Il Motore, for the second time in three months, as our venue of the month of February.
