Jason Collett
Jason Collett – Il Motore – 10.23.10
I arrived at Il Motore a little after 8:00 PM on Saturday night, worried I was going to be late for Daniel Romano, the folk soloist opening for Jason Collett that chilly evening. What I came upon, however, was an almost empty venue. I figured I must have gotten there early, so I got a drink and chilled with the bartenders as a few more people filtered in. This Week in Montreal
As the leaves change, BBQs go into storage and the dreaded coat-check returns, sometimes it’s hard to fight the urge to not leave your cozy couch. Yet us Montreal veterans know that Fall should be savored. It’s an idyllic few weeks before the winter army of Canada Goose clones take over the city. Why not celebrate the most glorious of seasons by checking out one of the many exciting shows happening around town this week? Phoenix are back in town. While we can’t stand CEPSUM, and are a little confused as to how WAVVES were thrown into the mix, hey it’s Phoenix! We’re also kind of curious to check out Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan. A collaboration between the former Belle & Sebastian singer and former Screaming Trees frontman, we’ve got a soft spot for odd couplings. Keep on reading for more show highlights, including The Hold Steady, Local Natives and Two Door Cinema Club.

This Week in Montreal
While the weather may not be looking so hot for the week, there is good news on the horizon. Firstly, the Habs have made the playoffs, so there will be no rioting downtown (unless of course they win the first series). But more importantly, we’ve got an excellent week of concerts lined up. Kicking things off with Best Coast and No Joy tonight at The Friendship Cove and culminating on Sunday night with Gogol Bordello and DeVotchKa at Metropolis in what is sure to be one of the most entertaining shows on the year so far, the week is jam packed with great shows. Here are some more highlights.
