There was much excitement in the air as the biggest crowd gathered inside the Rialto Theater for Coeur de Pirate’s album launch. The french-speaking songstress received significant media attention and widespread critical acclaim for her first self-titled album, which sold more than 600 000 copies worldwide. It was now time to see if Béatrice Martin would be able to do it again, as she embraced the start of her new journey with a sold-out, album-release concert.

This is it folks! The final day of Osheaga 2011 is rapidly approaching and it appears the Osheaga crew has saved the best for last this year. What a lineup we have in store for Sunday. M On The Quays 2010

While this past weekend wasn’t exactly ideal for outdoor concerts, the 2010 version of M on the Quays (M sur les Quais) went off with out a hitch. Some of Montreal’s best up and coming bands were put on display as well as some out of town talent as Montreal music fans and tourists alike huddled together for warmth at the quays of the old port this Saturday and Sunday. Labour Day weekend always brings up mixed feelings in many. Many people see it as a happy time because of the fact that there’s no work on Monday. Last night, Beatrice Martin, or as most know her, Coeur de Pirate played the first of two completely sold out shows at Le National in what will be her last two Montreal shows for a long time, as she will be touring Canada and Europe until well into June. There was a buzz in the air as the hall began to fill up, the lights began to dim, and opener Jimmy Hunt took the stage.
