Today we would like to introduce you to a fresh new face in the Montreal music scene that goes by the name a k u a. She’s a soulful r&b singer with a bright future and if you’re a fan of Little Dragon, Lykke Li, Esthero and Erykah Badu, a k u a just may be right up your alley.

Local Sounds: Bent By Elephants

Kurt Vile + Woods – La Sala Rossa – 12.07.11
Tuesday, July 12 2011, was the highly anticipated Kurt Vile and the Violators and Woods show at La Sala Rossa. By 9:30 p.m., all the tickets were already sold out and there was a sulking crowd outside the venue hoping to perhaps gain entrance later on during the night. Kurt Vile has definitely come a long way because, just last year, he was opening up for F*cked Up at Sala Rossa to a crowd less than half the size of yesterday’s.
Hey Ocean! – Divan Orange – 30.06.11
On Monday June 27th, 2011, Hey Ocean!, Sweet Mother Logic and Folly & the Hunter played at Divan Orange. The night started out slowly with not many people in the venue, but as it got darker outside, a decent crowd accumulated.
