To wrap up Dawson College’s 2011 Orientation, the Dawson Student Union has organized a great concert that will take place this Friday at La Tulipe featuring Montreal’s own Plants & Animals as well as Toronto, Ontario folk singer/songwriter Basia Bulat. The Dodos + The Antlers – La Tulipe – 15.06.11
La Tulipe was buzzing Wednesday night for the highly anticipated show put on by Californian indie-folk-pop band The Dodos and Brooklyn-based dream pop outfit The Antlers. While the photographer and I unfortunately missed openers, Gauntlet Hair, by the time we arrived the audience was hyped and ready for The Antlers’ ambient, reverberant harmonizing bliss.

This Week In Montreal
The Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival continues to roll on this week with a whole new batch of great and eclectic musicians from all over the musical spectrum. Omar Souleyman, Dolphins Into The Future, Jerusalem In My Heart, Parlovr, Colin Stetson and Lichens are a few of the great artists that will be taking the stage this week as a part of this years festival so be sure to check them out. Besides the Suoni shows there are a bunch of great shows going on this week in Montreal. The Dodos and The Antlers will play La Tulipe on Wednesday and Cults will play Il Motore on Sunday. With the end of the 12th edition of the annual MUTEK Festival comes the beginning of the this year’s Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival, which celebrates great music in all of it’s various forms. Playing as a part of the festival this week are Molly Sweeney, Tonstartssbandht, Grimes, Keiji Haino, Silent Land Time Machine, Alele Diane, Junior Boys and many more. This Week In Montreal
We’ve an eclectic week of shows ahead of us this week in Montreal. Rock, pop, soul, electronica, folk…pretty much whatever you’re in the mood for can be found at one of the many venues around the city. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings will be making a highly anticipated return to Montreal on Tuesday night at Metropolis in order to spread the message that R&B isn’t dead. Spencer Krug’s solo project, Moonface, will take full flight on Thursday night at Il Motore and Tune-Yards play the very next night at La Sala Rossa. Here’s all the highlights for the week…
