We hope you’ve had a quiet and restful weekend because this week, Montreal will be completely jam packed with great shows happening night after night. It’s also apparently album release week in Montreal as there are a number of Montreal bands playing album release shows this week. Malajube will play back to back sold out shows on Tuesday and Wednesday at La Tulipe as they release their latest LP, La Caverne. Pat Jordache will also be releasing his debut album this Thursday at Discoteque Tropicale as well as Grimes and D’Eon who will be releasing a brand new split this Friday at La Sala Rossa. We’re wrapping up the month of March in a big way this week with a hefty amount of quality shows. William Fitzsimmons kicks things off tonight at La Sala Rossa, Devotchka plays Le National on Tuesday and Titus Andronicus plays Il Motore on Thursday. But the week really gets going on Friday night when you will have to decide between three great shows: Born Ruffians at Sala Rossa, Destroyer at Cabaret Mile End or The Raveonettes at La Tulipe. So what if it’s freezing outside? Put on some layers, lace your boots and get out there because we’ve got another great week of shows lined up. Highlights this week include Fitz & The Tantrums on Tuesday at Petit Campus, Robyn and Diamond Rings at Metropolis on Thursday and Joshua Radin at La Tulipe on Sunday. 2010 has been an amazing year for shows in Montreal thanks to our city’s wonderful concert promoters who have worked their butts off bringing in the worlds best musical talent for our viewing pleasure. Local Natives – La Tulipe – 10.20.10

As I was power-walking my way down to La Tulipe from the Mont-Royal metro station, I couldn’t help muttering words of disapproval towards the fact that I spent a useless three hours in an inconveniently timed 6:00 PM to 8:45 PM class. I was sure I was going to miss the opening band, The Union Line, who are long time friends of Local Natives and fantastic in their own way. Nevertheless, I kept a tiny strain of hope and prayed they have some technical difficulties that would delay their 8:30pm set.
