La Tulipe
Interview: Local Natives
Oh, that feeling of attachment. You’ve been following a band since their humble beginnings and you think they’re something great but aren’t expecting them to get as far as they do, then all of a sudden, “BOOM!” Five piece harmony/percussion driven Local Natives have definitely made a lot of their first fans feel that way. It’s crazy to think that just over a year ago they were opening for the likes of Blind Pilot at Il Motore and Edward Sharpe at Petit Campus, driving around the continent in that typical band-van that can break down at any given moment. Nowadays they headline their own shows, one of them happening later this evening at our very own La Tulipe in Montreal. They also ride around the continent on a proper tour bus and they’ve eaten at so many great restaurants that it’s difficult for them to chose a top 5, let alone a top 3. Take a look at our latest interview with Local Natives singer and multi-instrumentalist Kelcey Ayer for the full story. Read more…
Elephant Stone Stream New EP, Play Casa Tonight!

The album was so good in fact that it was long-listed for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize. Next week, Elephant Stone will release The Glass Box EP, their second studio recording. But why wait until then when you can hear it streaming online right now.

Usually I’d write up some filler information to fill up some “intro” space in my review, but today I’m going to cut the crap. In one sentence, Hawksley Workman is a great performer and very entertaining to watch. This could sum up his performance at La Tulipe last night. Read more…
