I know we say this every week, but this week will be an exceptionally good week of shows in Montreal. You may not have even had a chance to catch your breath after Jónsi and Yeasayer‘s performances last night, but already tonight we’ve got Frightened Rabbit playing at Petit Campus with Maps & Atlases, My Brightest Diamond and David Martel playing at Il Motore and Jóhann Jóhannsson playing at L’Astral. Basia Bulat – L’Astral – Friday, February 12th
To promote her new album, entitled Heart of My Own to her fans in Montreal, Basia Bulat played an incredible show at L’Astral Friday night. She was accompanied by Leif Vollebekk, a singer-songwriter native to Montreal who serenaded the crowd with his guitar driven folk ballads. It was a night of beautiful music…and perfect teeth.
Nouvelle Vague – L’Astral – Tuesday, January 26th
After a long drive around and ultimately off the island of Montreal, I finally arrived at L’Astral on Tuesday night. Directions were mistaken and although I missed the magical music of Clare and the Reasons, I made it in time to catch the final song, and get ready for a full set performed by Nouvelle Vague.
