This Week In Montreal
It wasn’t too long ago that Jeff Tweedy was last in Montreal playing at a sold out Olympia Theatre for over 2 hours with his band Wilco. This Friday, Tweedy will be back at L’Olympia, this time playing solo for what I’m sure will be a just as impressive amount of people. But that’s not the only good thing happening this week. Don’t miss the first annual Signal To Noise benefit concert series being put on by CJLO to raise money for CJLO and UNICEF’s Pakistan flood relief effort. The series will take place from Tuesday to Thursday this week at Casa Del Popolo and will feature some of Montreal’s best bands including Hexes & Ohs, USA out of Vietnam and Snailhouse. You may know LA-based R&B/hip-hop/soul artist Aloe Blacc from his catchy track “I Need A Dollar” which was featured in the intro for HBO series How To Make It In America. Hot Hot Hot – Le Belmont – 10.16.10
The year of 2002 was a turning point for BC pop rock band Hot Hot Heat. That year, they released their critically acclaimed album, Make Up the Breakdown. They rapidly rose to the top of the charts, with singles “Bandages” and “Talk to Me, Dance With Me” on heavy rotation. But that was eight years ago and, in the music industry, that’s practically an eternity. Since then we might have heard things here and there about a new album or tour, but they have been mostly off the radar. But it’s 2010 and the band is prepared to make a revival as they headlined at Le Belmont last Saturday in Montreal, with Rich Aucoin and Hey Rosetta! on as support. Read more…
This Week In Montreal
Let’s be honest. We can’t expect every week to be overflowing with great shows as has been the case for the past few weeks in Montreal. There are bound to be times when things sort of quiet down before we come across things like this year’s Pop Montreal Festival in which we will all have our hands full with great concert choices. So while this week won’t go down in history as the best week for shows we’ve ever had there are still a few great bands coming to town that you should definitely check out. Highlighting this week in Montral we’ve got Admiral Radley kicking off our week tonight at Le Belmont and closing out the week we’ve got Titus Andronicus playing at Il Motore. Take a a look at the rest of what’s happening this week in Montreal.
