This may just be our biggest and most impressive roster of just announced Montreal shows to date. We've got a total of 15 new shows to announce by the likes of Caribou, Stars, The Drums, The Walkmen and Atari Teenage Riot. We're also happy to announce a show that has 'show of the year' written all over it. That would be Phoenix on October 21st. That's going to be a great show on it's own, but what makes it even better is that opening will be none other than Tokyo Police Club and Wavves. Does it get any better? Check out all the recently announced Montreal shows below:

Tonight, New York pop rock band The Dig will play in Montreal at Le National as a part of a four band lineup featuring Bad Veins, Kevin Devine and Thrice. With an eclectic lineup like this one the show is sure to be a crowd pleaser. While most people attending will probably be there for Thrice, on this night we just may be more exciting about who's opening up the show than who's headlining. In particular, we are really excited to check out a wonderful 4-piece indie rock outfit called The Dig. So in celebration of the band's show tonight in Montreal, we'd like to offer you a chance to win your very own copy of the band's debut full length album, Electric Toys.

Last night I had the chance to check out two noise-pop-rock buzz bands, Yeasayer and openers Sleigh Bells. Both acclaimed bands have had a busy 2010, with Yeasayer releasing their second LP Odd Blood, and Sleigh Bells promoting their debut album Treats - off M.I.A's N.E.E.T label - which drops May 11. Both Yeasayer and Sleigh Bells have had quite a lot riding on their shoulders; the former trying to live up to the smashing success of their first album, and the latter blog darlings having to prove themselves as more than just a passing fad. Therefore it was interesting to see two bands who are at very different turning points in their careers, yet who are both trying to make their marks in a musical climate oversaturated with dance pop beats, borrowed hip hop hooks, and electro post-punk mashups. Difficult task, yet both groups are managing quite well to stay oh so relevant while resisting arbitrary classifications.
