Surfer Blood – Il Motore – Friday, March 5th, 2010
You could say I had only some expectations for last night’s “festival” of rock music at Il Motore. Headlining band Surfer Blood was obviously the main reason for the large turnout and although their rising popularity in the indie rock world isn’t exactly a secret, I almost felt like there was something to be desired from this band going into last night. Expectations were not high, nor were they low, but I’ll put it this way: the show packed quite a punch.
Coeur de Pirate – Le National – Friday, February 5th
Last night, Beatrice Martin, or as most know her, Coeur de Pirate played the first of two completely sold out shows at Le National in what will be her last two Montreal shows for a long time, as she will be touring Canada and Europe until well into June. There was a buzz in the air as the hall began to fill up, the lights began to dim, and opener Jimmy Hunt took the stage.
Review: White Denim & Brazos – Il Motore – Tuesday, November 10th
Last night we had a chance to check out two great bands coming out of Austin, Texas; Brazos and White Denim. The show took place at Il Motore, which we have already chosen as our venue of the month for November and if they keep up their great scheduling may just be our venue of the month for December too.

Girls Show Tonight: Cancelled!
bad news for all you Girls fans. It has been announced that due to border issues the band has had to cancel their show tonight with Real Estate at Il Motore. This is very sad! You border guards should be ashamed of yourselves, robbing us Montrealers of a great performance. We can only hope that there will be a rescheduled date sometime soon.

As I walked in to the main room of Club Lambi following my interview with Obhijou members Ryan Carley and Anissa Hart, I realized that I had made it just in time for Silver Starling‘s last song. And judging by this song, it was obvious that I had missed a good set.
Openers Announced For Arctic Monkeys Show
It was an exciting day when the youngsters from Sheffield, England, Arctic Monkeys decided that they would include our little island on their upcoming tour around North America and Europe. But there has been a hole in the spot of who would open up the show that needed to be filled. Well it has been recently announced that Montreal’s own Parlovr will start things off on December 14th at Metropolis, which may just be the biggest show these guys have ever played.
