We’ve got a nice mixed bag this week in Montreal. From the second annual Montreal Jewish Music Festival that kicked off yesterday and will run until Wednesday to Kath Bloom’s show at Casa Del Popolo on Tuesday to some great electro shows happening later this week, there’s pretty much something for everyone. If you’re going to pick one show to go to this week we’re going to suggest you check out Male Bonding’s show that will take place at Il Motore on Thursday. This Week in Montreal: POP Special Edition
It’s time to rest up. This Wednesday marks the start of the 9th annual POP Montreal Festival, and there’s lots to see in the following 5 days. Yet we’re jumping the gun, we can’t forget about a noteworthy batch of shows kicking off this busy week including Best Coast (who’s more famous at this point frontwoman Beth Cosentino or her cat Snacks?), Eels and Foals. Come Wednesday, you’re going to need a game-plan to tackle the endless shows that will be happening around the city. Venue of the Month: La Sala Rossa
It is going to be an extremely busy September in Montreal. Not only will there be an abundance of shows around our city but there will be enough great shows to make your head spin. This simple fact made choosing a venue of the month extremely difficult but after carefully surveying all the venues in the city we had to go with the lovely Sala Rossa. Kele of Bloc Party, Efterklang, The Do, Foals, Bear In Heaven and School of Seven Bells are just a few of the great bands playing at Sala this month. Vivian Girls – La Sala Rossa – Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Last night, Vivian Girls, Drunk Dial and Male Bonding hosted a show at La Sala Rossa filled with noisy punk rock and a whole lot of talent. Although the hall was empty until about 10:00 PM (in true Montreal fashion), the audience somehow managed to make it just in time to catch the opening band.

Hier soir, La Sala Rossa recevait trois groupes de punk rock au talent indiscutable: Vivian Girls, Drunk Dial et Male Bonding. Bien que la salle était presque vide jusqu’à environ 22 heures (attitude typiquement montréalaise), les spectateurs sont arrivés juste à temps pour attraper le premier groupe. Pendant que les montréalais Drunk Dial entrait en scène, la foule commença à s’accroître, prête à faire du head bang sur les pièces de la soirée. Read more…
