Interview: Sea Wolf

LA folk rock outfit Sea Wolf are a band that can rock out with the best of them just as fast as they can lull you to sleep, all the while creating some beautiful imagery at every step of the way. Alex Brown Church, who is the band’s principal songwriter, has decided to take the road solo this fall in support of a new 7″ for their latest single “Turn The Dirt Over”. MGMT + Violens – Metropolis – Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

MGMT + Violens – Metropolis – Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Over these past few weeks Montreal has been one hot city. With temperatures rising higher than 32 degrees Celsius (sorry all you Americans, I don’t speak Fahrenheit), and humidity that makes hair of all types become frizzy dos, last night would have been one cooler exception after tumultuous rainstorms. And I say would have been rather than was because if you thought the past few weeks were unbearably hot, then you have no idea what it was like at Metropolis last night. The MGMT gig has been sold out for some time now, and Metropolis filled up rather quickly after the doors opened around 6:30. Read more…

Well that’s all folks. Osheaga 2010 has come to an end. I think it’s safe to say a good time was had by all and despite the long lemonade lines (and consequently long bathroom lines) the entire weekend went off without a hitch. I think we all deserve to finally put our feet up and relax after standing for twenty hours with only a little rest in between days. For those of you that missed it or would like to re-live the day all over again, here is our recap of a star-studded day 2 at Osheaga 2010. Read more…

This Week in Montreal

This Week in Montreal

Osheaga has come and gone once again. Hopefully by now your sore feet, and wallet, have recuperated from this past weekend’s festivities… BUT there’s no rest for the weary since this week offers us some exciting shows. MGMT have come a long ways since forming the band as a college pet project. On top of winning a Grammy, headlining Coachella, and having Paul McCartney as a fan, selling out this Wednesday’s Metropolis show is an indication that MGMT have successfully managed to find mainstream success with their psychedelic pop hits. If you’re in the mood for a show on a bit of a smaller scale, Sunday’s Maps & Atlases and Cults show at Il Motore is sure to scratch your concert itch. Keep on reading to check out more highlights of shows happening this week in Montreal including, Arab on Radar, Boris and Public Enemy.
