With the end of the 12th edition of the annual MUTEK Festival comes the beginning of the this year’s Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival, which celebrates great music in all of it’s various forms. The stars are coming out this week in Montreal. Starting off tonight with Adele‘s highly anticipated and sold out performance at L’Olympia and continuing throughout the week with performances by A-trak, Lykke Li, Grimes and Arctic Monkeys, we are in store for some great shows this week. But if you’d like to check out some of Montreal’s best local acts, we suggest you check out First You Get The Sugar on Tuesday at Divan Orange, UN, Reversing Falls and Nightwood on Thursday at Casa Del Popolo and Miracle Fortress on Friday at the Torn Curtain. Black Emperor will make their long awaited return to the stage, we assure you there will be many other things to remember this week. Miracle Fortress Returns With New Album, Single, Tour
It’s been about 4 years since we’ve heard anything new from Montreal’s Miracle Fortress (AKA Graham Van Pelt). There is good news on the horizon for those of us that have been eagerly awaiting some new music from the talented multi-instrumentalist. Van Pelt has just put the finishing touches on his long awaited Sophomore LP, entitled Was I The Wave?, which will be released on April 26th via Secret City Records. Read more…
Interview: No Joy
No Joy is Jasmine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd: both guitarists, singers, and good friends. The local dream-pop/noise duo are about to launch their first full-length album, entitled Ghost Blonde, this Saturday, November 27th at the quaint Casa del Popolo along with Ducktails, Grimes and METZ.
