Interview: Gabrielle Papillon
Meet You At The Show had the pleasure of meeting up with folk singer-songwriter Gabrielle Papillon at Autours d’un Pain in the village. MYATS recently reviewed her album launch at Casa Del Popolo on November 29th, and we adored her set. Having just recently finished a lengthy tour around Canada, Gabrielle took the time to chat with us about the music she is listening to, what touring is like, how her album came together and more.

Cinéma L’amour’s Second Birthday Bonanza – 03.12.11
On Saturday December 3rd, Montreal-based nerd-rock duo Cinéma L’Amour celebrated their second year as a band with their Second Birthday Bonanza, a music/art filled evening of rock. To celebrate the evening and the release of Cinéma L’Amour’s brand new Long Drives/Empty Bottles, three other bands added their musical stylings to the line-up: Wind-Up People, People Person and A Grand Scene. Tandoori Knights – Il Motore – 30.11.11
Il Motore was fully revved on Wednesday night due to a packed house and a spicy menu as Bloodshot Bill, Crystal Stilts and Tandoori Knights took over Little Italy. Mile-Enders and Montrealers from all over answered the call to catch up with some of this city’s brightest and boldest rock n’ rollers and to be taken on a cross-continental journey of music and theatrics. As the punters shuffled in, dragging wisps of cold air behind them, the DJ played a mix of vinyl that zig-zagged between Detroit rock, British invasion, southern soul and noise rock. A good start to what turned out to be an interesting and eclectic evening. Read more…
Gabrielle Papillon – Casa del Popolo – 29.11.11
Three artists took the stage at Casa Del Popolo Tuesday night and delivered an intimate, moving, and delightful evening of folk music. Kim Wempe and Roxanne Potvin opened for Gabrielle Papillon and The Mighty Oak who headlined the evening, a celebration for the launch of Papillon’s new album The Currency of Poetry. Read more…

Cinéma L’Amour is one of Montreal’s more interesting up and coming acts. This nerd-rock duo consists of Dorian Scheidt on vocals, guitar, and wielding an impressive board of pedals, with Chris Kavanagh on the drums.
