Tandoori Knights – Il Motore – 30.11.11
Il Motore was fully revved on Wednesday night due to a packed house and a spicy menu as Bloodshot Bill, Crystal Stilts and Tandoori Knights took over Little Italy. Mile-Enders and Montrealers from all over answered the call to catch up with some of this city’s brightest and boldest rock n’ rollers and to be taken on a cross-continental journey of music and theatrics. As the punters shuffled in, dragging wisps of cold air behind them, the DJ played a mix of vinyl that zig-zagged between Detroit rock, British invasion, southern soul and noise rock. A good start to what turned out to be an interesting and eclectic evening. Read more…
The Kooks – Metropolis – 22.11.11
As the first snowfall loomed over the city on Tuesday night, two bands brought the heat to the Metropolis. The spike in temperature was due to The Postelles and The Kooks selling out the famed venue and giving their fans exactly what they came for. In retrospect, it seems fitting for the two bands to play a venue such as Metropolis considering the various incarnations and influences that have defined the site for well over one hundred years. Originally built in 1884 as a site for a skating rink, the building itself was once a cinema, a porn theater and a nightclub. The exterior is old and rustic while the interior is modern and spacious. Metropolis has taken the old and combined it with the new to create an original space with a unique feel. Why am I dissecting the history of a building we’ve all been to numerous times when most of you just wanna hear about the show?! Because just like the venue, both The Postelles and The Kooks take from the old, mix in the new and create something unique and original while all the time familiar and comfortable like the faded jeans that you toss on the floor after great rock n’ roll show. Interview: JF Robitaille
On Tuesday, November 8th, Meet You At The Show’s own Pamela Fillion sat down with singer-songwriter JF Robitaille over mint tea and a mocha and had a chat about his recently released album Calendar, his song writing, and how he likes to drink his coffee. He was candid, charming, and genuine just like his songs. Needless to say, interviewing JF Robitaille at Casa Del Popolo was a real pleasure.

Vivian Girls – La Sala Rossa – Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Last night, Vivian Girls, Drunk Dial and Male Bonding hosted a show at La Sala Rossa filled with noisy punk rock and a whole lot of talent. Although the hall was empty until about 10:00 PM (in true Montreal fashion), the audience somehow managed to make it just in time to catch the opening band.
The Antlers – Il Motore – February 17th, 2010
Last night, Il Motore gave rise to Golden Isles, along with the critically acclaimed phenomenon that is The Antlers. The normally rather sparse Il Motore was already packed to the gills by 9 pm, and continued to play host to quite a few stragglers as the night wore on. The lights were dim, the anticipation was palpable, things were relatively quiet…and then Golden Isles entered on stage.
