Pop Montreal Nights: Part 4

Pop Montreal Nights: Part 4

Since our day 3 at Pop Montreal was pretty much completely occupied by an epic performance by The Dears, we made sure to be absolutely everywhere on day 4. On our show-hoping frenzy we managed to check out guitar genius Marnie Stern at the Cabaret, Danielson and Shapes & Sizes at La Sala Rossa and Library Voices, Ruby Coast, The Hoof & The Heel and Savoir Adore at Petit Campus. We also managed to catch Gentleman Reg‘s new dance-pop act, Light Fires over at Divan Orange and all the madness going on over at Espace Reunion with Deerhoof. Check out all of our photos from night 4 at Pop Montreal after the jump.

But let’s not sulk, there are some tough decisions to be made and some great shows to see. Take a look at our highlights from a very busy Saturday at Pop Montreal. Read more…

This Will Destroy You – Petit Campus – Sunday, June 6th, 2010

Montrealers have proven themselves to be troopers when it comes to bad weather. No amount of rain or ominous cloud coverage can draw them away from what they want to do, whether it be bike 50 km around the city or crowd together in a small room for some good music. Sunday night, Petit Campus was filled with This Will Destroy You fans who have been waiting for a long while to see their favourite instrumental rockers.

White Rabbits + The Hoof & The Heel – Petit Campus – Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

White Rabbits + The Hoof & The Heel – Petit Campus – Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Sometimes I need to be reminded that people have different priorities than my own. I constantly seem to forget that slow walkers can’t read my mind that I’m in a rush, that the loud talkers at Starbucks can’t sense that I don’t give a damn about their asshole boyfriends, or in this case that I don’t really care about – gasp – hockey. That’s partially why I love going to shows so much, or some of them at least. It’s rare that you find a niche where you can rub shoulders with like-minded individuals. I’m not saying I share an infallible bond with every concert-goer that falls into my path, but I like to think that I have more in common with someone checking out a band I’m interested in than someone at Cage aux Sports. That’s why, arriving at Petit Campus on Wednesday night to check out White Rabbits, I at first felt utterly out of my comfort zone.
