K-Os – Club Soda – 12.10.2011
K-Os made a return to Montreal this weekend, supported by Toronto’s up-and-coming The Dirty Mags. Although they were at opposite end’s of the music spectrum next to K-Os, they captured the audience with their buzzing energy and thrashing guitars. K-Os, as always, put on an a jaw-dropping show filled with dancing, big smiles and great energy. Take a look at some of our photos we grabbed from the night.
Interview: She’s Got a Habit
MYATS’ Pamela Fillion had the pleasure of chatting with Emma Frank and Martin Rodriguez from She’s Got A Habit, a Montreal-based musical gem. She’s Got A Habit was part of this year’s Pop Montreal line up and have recently released a wonderful EP entitled Blindfold Test. Sneak Peak of Pop Montreal 2011
For those of you who wouldn’t know it (most of you, I presume) Concordia University once offered a summer course on exactly this: Montreal Festival Culture. I have no way of verifying whether or not Pop Montreal made it’s way to the course syllabus, but I sure hope so, because it’s one of the best festivals the city has to offer (though I hold a soft spot for that which is the totally rad Suoni Per Il Popolo). Over the years Pop Montreal has brought in some truly memorable artists to perform some truly memorable shows, and this year, from September 21st to the 25th, Pop Montreal will continue this tradition by celebrating a decade of fun. Interview: Javelin
Brooklyn based experimental electro duo Javelin will be rolling through Montreal in just a few weeks to play at Le Belmont on May 31st with Big Freedia. We had a chance to catch up with Thomas Van Buskirk of Javelin so that we could find out more about the band, their live show and their latest album/film project, Canyon Candy (out now on Luaka Bop Records).
