Guide To Osheaga 2011: Day 2
Day 2 of Osheaga 2011 is a big day for many reasons. Sure there are a ton of great bands and artists playing simultaneously all day long, but for many day 2 will always be remembered as the day that Death From Above 1979 return to the stage in Montreal for the first time since their breakup back in 2006. But before they take the stage at 7:25 PM there are a lot of other bands playing, often at the same time, but have no fear, we are here to help you resolve those conflicts with our guide to day 2 at Osheaga 2011.
This Week In Montreal
While there isn’t much going on in the city tonight, strap your boots on because from Tuesday on the week will just get better and better. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday will be especially tough days to choose a concert since there are at least three great options each night but if you are looking for a show on Wednesday night we’d like to turn your attention to the Arbutus Records fundraiser that will be going on at Casa Del Popolo. The local label will be raising money for the release of Tonstartssbandht‘s Now I Am Become LP that will be released in May and along with Andy Summers from the band performing, Makeout Videotape and Pop Winds will also play. Here’s the full list of highlights for this week.

Tokyo Police Club + Two Door Cinema Club – Club Soda – 01.16.11
This review has been proving to be very difficult to write considering the rage I’ve been bottling up since Sunday’s show, so I’ve decided to say it straight. Although I am doing my best not to wash everyone with the same dirty cloth, I can’t help but be utterly disappointed in the fact that some of the people at the Tokyo Police Club/Two Door Cinema Club show acted like immature, light-headed fanatics. It is in no way acceptable for a person that is old and wise enough to know the difference between right and wrong to commit an act of stealing. It is selfish, and makes you look like an asshole. It doesn’t matter whether you stole an inexpensive trinket, or a very valuable piece of merchandise; it is the fact that you are taking away something that already belongs to someone, hence something that is of sentimental value. This Week in Montreal
There is so much going on this week, we don’t know where to start. Tunng kicks off this busy week tonight at Casa Del Popolo. To get a little more acquainted with Tuung check out our interview with the UK experimental pop group HERE. By now, we’re pretty sure you’ve come across Aloe Blacc‘s infectious single “I Need A Dollar.” Lucky for us, the soulful Mr. Blacc will be playing at Le Belmont. Be sure to check out interview with the R&B/hip-hop sensation HERE. This week also brings us M for Montreal (including M for Metropolis), a weekend-long showcase of some of Montreal’s best exports, including The Dears, SUUNS, and Valleys. If that’s not enough to keep you occupied, keep reading for more shows happening this week around Montreal including the return of kooky Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, No Age and Land of Talk.

We’ve got The Streets, we’ve got The Drums, we’ve got Born Ruffians and we’ve even got some new Winter Gloves if yours are worn out. Let the parade begin!
This Week in Montreal
Halloween is simultaneously one of the most anticipated and dreaded times of the year. A time when social mores lapse, women feel compelled to walk around in a G-string, and drunken buffoonery clouds the Montreal cityscape. This week’s shows offer us refuge to escape the Halloween pandemonium or if you prefer, an opportunity to debut your Lady Gaga meat dress. The week kicks tonight with performances by Dan Mangan and Die Antwoord (we have a feeling you’ll be seeing more than a few Ninja and Yo-Landi inspired costumes this week). On Hallows Eve, you can make your way over to Il Motore to check out Diamond Rings or to La Sala Rossa to see The Vaselines who are in town to promote their new album Sex with an X. Keep on reading for more show highlights this week including Yukon Blonde, Candy Claws and Matt & Kim.
