Last Tuesday marked my first reluctant attempt at getting back into going to shows. Due to having gone through so many back-to-back letdowns during the last few times I went to see a band play, I wasn’t initially prompted to even set foot in Casa Del Popolo, especially since each of the acts have regular plays in my music library and I really didn’t want to be left disappointed by a selfish, immature crowd etching away at my patience. This Week In Montreal
When all is said and done today we will have a nice fresh blanket of 20 centimeters of snow covering our city. This should make things interesting for those of us that like to go to concerts on a regular basis. Speaking of concerts, this week will be another excellent week of shows, so lace up your Sorels and start trudging. Marnie Stern, Alcoholic Faith Mission, We Are The City, The Zoobombs, Plants & Animals, Designer Drugs, The Two Koreas and Silk Screaming are all playing this week and you don’t want to miss them.

This Week in Montreal
Halloween is simultaneously one of the most anticipated and dreaded times of the year. A time when social mores lapse, women feel compelled to walk around in a G-string, and drunken buffoonery clouds the Montreal cityscape. This week’s shows offer us refuge to escape the Halloween pandemonium or if you prefer, an opportunity to debut your Lady Gaga meat dress. The week kicks tonight with performances by Dan Mangan and Die Antwoord (we have a feeling you’ll be seeing more than a few Ninja and Yo-Landi inspired costumes this week). On Hallows Eve, you can make your way over to Il Motore to check out Diamond Rings or to La Sala Rossa to see The Vaselines who are in town to promote their new album Sex with an X. Tonight in the City
We’ve got a huge night of shows ahead of us tonight in Montreal. Unless your planning on heading to Longueuil tonight to catch the Arcade Fire playing yet another (somewhat) secret free show at Place Longueuil at 8:30 PM we’ve got the run down of what’s happening in the city tonight. This Week in Montreal
The Suoni per il Popolo festival continues to roll along this week, bringing us two interesting one-woman acts, Grouper and Tune-Yards. If you’re in the mood for some dreamy vocals and ambient haze, head on over to check out Grouper, aka Liz Harris. While if you’re up for some truly quirky folk/pop DIY beatboxing sounds, Tune-Yards aka Merrill Garbus could be what you need to jumpstart this busy concert week. Beyond Suoni per il Popolo, we are truly excited for this Wednesday’s Luyas show at the Rialto Theatre; we get to see one of Montreal’s biggest exports at the moment playing at the gorgeous venue’s first public show in a fairly long time. Green Room Suffers Electrical Fire
The beloved Montreal concert hall and bar, which is nestled inconspicuously on St. Laurent street between Maguire and St. Viateur has suffered an electrical fire on the morning of Sunday, April 16th. Until further notice all shows at Green Room will be moved.
